Food Photographer & Videographer | Visual Storyteller | Recipe Enthusiast | Age 31
Anchorage-based creator who believes that food should look as good as it tastes — and that high protein recipes deserve their spotlight.
My Story
From the time I picked up my first camera, I knew storytelling was my path. What I didn’t realize back then was that food would become my favorite subject. Growing up in Anchorage, I was surrounded by a community that valued hearty meals and local ingredients. Photography became my way to capture those moments of connection around the table.
As I stepped into professional work, I noticed something: the most beautiful meals often weren’t the most nourishing, and the most nourishing recipes weren’t always presented in ways that inspired people. That gap sparked my passion to combine visual storytelling with high protein recipes, helping people not just cook better but see food differently.
The Turning Point
My turning point came during a freelance project. I was asked to photograph a line of protein snacks, but when I looked at the images afterward, they felt lifeless. I realized that if I — someone trained to find beauty in food — wasn’t inspired, how could anyone else be?
That moment challenged me to refine my style: to create food photography that made even protein bars, smoothies, or bowls look crave-worthy. It wasn’t just about lighting or angles anymore; it was about capturing the emotion of food that fuels us. That realization now guides every recipe shoot I do for SimplyTaster.com.
What I Learned the Hard Way
When I first started, I thought good gear alone would make great photos. Spoiler: it didn’t. My early food shoots were flat, awkward, and didn’t convey the deliciousness of the recipe. I also underestimated how tough it can be to film in a tiny kitchen with natural light that changes every five minutes.
I learned the hard way that food photography requires patience, persistence, and a willingness to fail — and re-shoot — until you get it right. Those lessons humbled me, but they also sharpened my creative eye and strengthened my belief in food storytelling.
My Approach Now
Today, my approach is all about blending art with authenticity. I use natural lighting, minimal props, and styling that keeps the focus where it belongs: on the food itself. My goal is to make protein-rich recipes look inviting, approachable, and full of life.
At Simply Taster, I collaborate with recipe developers and writers to ensure every dish not only tastes amazing but also shines visually. Whether it’s capturing the gooey pull of a protein brownie or the crisp detail of a chicken bowl, I make sure the images and videos inspire people to cook and share.
What I Believe
- Food photography should spark appetite, not just admiration.
- Protein-forward meals deserve to look as indulgent as they taste.
- Simple setups often create the strongest images.
- Storytelling is just as important as technique.
- Visuals can be the bridge that helps people choose healthier meals.
How I Can Help You
Through my work with SimplyTaster.com, I help bring recipes to life in ways that make them feel irresistible. If you’re someone who struggles to get inspired by “healthy” food, my photography and video aim to change that by making high protein recipes look like the delicious, comforting meals they truly are.
I create recipe images, step-by-step video content, and short-form clips designed to connect with audiences across platforms. Whether you’re scrolling Instagram or searching Google, my goal is to make you pause, smile, and say: I want to try that.
A Little More About Me
Beyond the camera, I’m an outdoor enthusiast who finds peace hiking through Alaska’s trails, kayaking under endless summer skies, and snowboarding in the winter months. Those landscapes often inspire the natural light and earthy tones in my photography.
I’m also a big fan of strong coffee, indie films, and experimenting with slow-motion video to capture even the smallest details of food in motion.
Let’s Connect
I love connecting with people who are passionate about food — whether you’re a fellow creative, a home cook, or someone just starting your high protein journey. Share your experiences, ask questions, or simply say hi.
You can usually find me behind the camera (or editing late into the night), but I always make time to respond to those who reach out.
